Two-Factor Authentication for Agent Accounts on SimpleRent

  • 9 June 2023

At SimpleRent we understand the value of your trust and the sensitivity of the information stored in your account. That’s why SimpleRent has implemented Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to provide our users with even stronger account security.

Starting from 12th of June 2023, SimpleRent offers agencies the option to set up 2FA for their own account and all agent user accounts associated with the agency. However, please note that the implementation of 2FA is currently not applicable to tenant accounts.

What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an additional security measure that provides an extra layer of protection for online accounts. It requires users to provide two different types of identification factors to verify their identity before gaining access to their accounts.

Why 2FA matters?

Agency accounts contain sensitive and confidential information related to your account, tenants, and business. By implementing 2FA, SimpleRent aims to enhance the security of agencies and its agent accounts and safeguard the data from unauthorised access or malicious activities. It provides an additional layer of security for agencies who choose to enable it.

How does the 2FA implementation work?

Starting from 9th of June 2023, SimpleRent will offer the option for agencies to set up 2FA for their accounts. Here's how it will work:

  1. To enable 2FA, agencies can request activation by:
    1. By emailing our Onboarding Manager at [email protected] or Success Manager at [email protected]
    2. By contacting SimpleRent Customer Support via chat or email at [email protected]
  2. Once enabled, agent users (associated with the agency) logging into their SimpleRent account will be required to set up 2FA before continuing.
  3. Users will have to set up a second factor of authentication through Google Authenticator, Authy, or any 2FA app to generate a time-based One-Time Password (OTP), a unique code which they can enter during the login process.
  4. For subsequent login attempts, users who have completed the 2FA process will be prompted to provide the second factor of authentication alongside their username and password.

Enabling 2FA for SimpleRent accounts adds an additional layer of security and provides users with increased control over the protection of their data. While it is an optional feature for agencies, SimpleRent encourages users to consider enabling 2FA to enhance the security of their accounts and ensure the safeguarding of their valuable information.
